At this year’s UN General Assembly, USAID launched the Partnership for a Lead-Free Future, a coalition to end childhood lead poisoning in developing countries by 2040. And we also announced $517 million in new support for countries experiencing democratic openings, and named Guatemala the latest country to join the Democracy Delivers Initiative. There were two big announcements supporting women around the world: a new public-private partnership that aims to accelerate gender equality and enhance environmental sustainability in agricultural supply chains, and two foundations are joining the Women in the Digital Economy Fund, which works to close the gender digital divide.
