Measure Summaries

British Medical Association

Epilepsy: the contractor establishes and maintains a register of patients age 18 or over receiving drug treatment for epilepsy. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Epilepsy: the percentage of patients aged 18 or over on drug treatment for epilepsy who have been seizure free for the last 12 months recorded in the preceding 12 months. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Epilepsy: the percentage of women aged 18 or over and who have not attained the age of 55 who are taking antiepileptic drugs who have a record of information and counselling about contraception, conception and pregnancy in the preceding 12 months.

Learning disabilities: the contractor establishes and maintains a register of patients aged 18 or over with learning disabilities. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Learning disabilities: the percentage of patients on the learning disability register with Down's syndrome aged 18 or over who have a record of blood TSH in the preceding 12 months (excluding those who are on the thyroid disease register).

The Joint Commission

Hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services: the percentage of patients admitted to a hospital-based inpatient psychiatric setting who are screened within the first three days of admission for all of the following: risk of violence to self or others, substance use, psychological trauma history and patient strengths. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services: the percentage of patients discharged from a hospital-based inpatient psychiatric setting on two or more antipsychotic medications with appropriate justification. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services: the percentage of patients discharged from a hospital-based inpatient psychiatric setting on two or more antipsychotic medications. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services: the percentage of patients discharged from a hospital-based inpatient psychiatric setting with a continuing care plan created. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services: the percentage of patients discharged from a hospital-based inpatient psychiatric setting with a continuing care plan provided to the next level of care clinician or entity. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services: the total number of hours that all patients admitted to a hospital-based inpatient psychiatric setting were held in seclusion. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services: the total number of hours that all patients admitted to a hospital-based inpatient psychiatric setting were maintained in physical restraint. This updates a previously published measure summary.

Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement

Assessment and management of chronic pain: percentage of patients diagnosed with chronic pain with a diagnosis of neuropathic pain who are prescribed a tricyclic antidepressant OR anticonvulsant prior to use of opioids.
