AHRQ and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) have joined forces to award up to $8 million in total annually to as many as 10 institutions to support training programs to establish a sustainable corps of learning-health-system researchers. Grantees will prepare clinician and research scientists for independent research careers within care delivery systems, equipping the scientists to advance the field through their training and scholarship as the next generation of learning-health-system researchers.

A joint blog post by AHRQ Director Gopal Khanna, M.B.A., and PCORI Executive Director Joe Selby, M.D., M.P.H., further outlines expectations on implementing a training program; identifying, recruiting, and training clinician and research scientists; establishing learning-health-systems Centers of Excellence; and supporting a learning collaborative across the Centers of Excellence. Applicants will also use AHRQ’s newly developed core competencies for training learning-health-system researchers.

Applications are due January 24, 2018. Apply today.
