Electronic Flight Strips Roll Out in Louisville
Air traffic controllers at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) in Kentucky started working with new Electronic Flight Strips (EFS) this week. EFS replaces old paper strips and increases safety and efficiency by providing real-time updates and streamlining the flight-planning process. SDF is the 21st tower to receive this upgraded system as part of our Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS).

Maryland Manufacturing Plant Has Key Role in Air Traffic Control Modernization
FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford was on hand this week for the grand opening of Rhode and Schwarz’s new manufacturing plant in Frederick, Maryland that will support the deployment of upgraded voice switches at air traffic control towers across the country. E-CTI Schools
Enhanced Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative program (E-CTI) students are returning to school to continue their air traffic control training. E-CTI schools fast-track training for air traffic control candidates and place them in their first FAA facility at record speed.
Secretary Duffy had the chance to see one of these schools in action this week and meet some future controllers. SUNY Schenectady is one of 12 E-CTI schools across the country.
This week’s guest Weather Squad forecaster is Vanessa Murdock with CBS New York. Vanessa is forecasting severe storms and possible flash flooding along the East Coast as we approach the weekend. Things quiet downs across the country once those storms roll through.
The skies will stay dry in New York this weekend for the U.S. Open. Remember, the U.S Open is a No Drone Zone; leave those drones at home! Violating a TFR can result in fines, confiscation and federal criminal charges.
