Busy July: Forecasted Flights
The busy skies persist this week as we’re forecasting more than 55,000 flights on Thursday. Be sure to pack your patience and check with your airline for the status of your flight before heading out!
Austin Gets Updated Air Traffic Technology
Air traffic controllers at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) are saying goodbye to antiquated paper strips in an upgrade that will increase both safety and efficiency. This week, they will start using new Electronic Flight Strips (EFS). EFS allow for real-time data updates and streamline the entire flight-planning process. It also makes it easier for controllers to handle fluctuations in traffic volume and adapt to ever-changing airfield conditions.
For more information on the latest upgrades, check out our Modern Skies website.
Just because the World Cup is coming to an end doesn’t mean the drone restrictions are! More than 650 drones have been seized so far at World Cup events. Host stadiums in Atlanta, Miami, and the New York and New Jersey area are still no drone zones. Be sure to check airspace restrictions before your drone takes flight.
This week’s guest Weather Squad forecaster is Chris Franklin with WWL-TV down in the Big Easy. Chris is forecasting lots of sunny skies and high temperatures in New Orleans as we approach the weekend.
