Hello, Air Traffic Controller Candidates,

Happy New Year! We're excited about your interest in working for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Congratulations on getting to this point!

Whether you’ve already received your Clearance Instruction Letter (CIL) and started the process or still are awaiting next steps, you’ve got two options for completing the required clearances:

  1. Locally. You can complete the five required steps at locations and times convenient to your location and schedule (but within the 30 days allotted in your letter). We typically issue 400+ instruction letters/month, so you should get your letter in the next few months.
  2. Pre-Employment Processing Centers (PEPCs). If you’re looking to consolidate clearance steps and expedite the process, you can register to attend one of our PEPCs. We’ll make sure you’ve received your CIL before your scheduled PEPC date. If you’ve started the clearance process and just need a few remaining steps, you’re welcome to register and just do the parts you still need.

Our PEPCs were selected based on the geographical locations with the highest number of selected candidates. You can register here before Jan. 26:

We’re here to help. Let us know if you have any questions: aviation.careers@faa.gov or (405) 954-4657.

Hope to see you at the Academy soon!
