$100 Million in Grants to Support Manufacturers of Construction Materials

EPA has announced the availability of $100 million in grants to support efforts to report and reduce climate pollution linked to the manufacturing of construction materials and products. This new grant program will help businesses develop documents called Environmental Product Declarations, which disclose environmental impacts across the life of a product. The deadline to apply is Jan. 8, 2024. EPA requests an optional Notice of Intent to apply by Oct. 27, 2023, by sending an email to embodiedcarbon@epa.gov.

Two webinars on this grant competition and the application process will be held on Nov. 2, 2023, from 2 – 3 p.m. EDT and Nov. 14, 2023, from 2 – 3 p.m. EDT. Register for webinars.

2023 Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award Winners Announced

This year's Safer Choice Partner of the Year award winners come from 15 states and the District of Columbia. They were recognized for achievements in the design, manufacture, and the selection and use of cleaners, detergents and other products with safer chemicals. Applicants for this year’s awards were encouraged to show how their work promotes environmental justice, bolsters resilience to the impacts of climate change, results in cleaner air or water, improves drinking water quality or advances innovation in packaging.

Register to Attend the 2023 Green Chemistry Challenge Awards

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to attend the 2023 Green Chemistry Challenge Awards ceremony in person. These awards recognize companies or institutions that have developed a new green chemistry process or product that helps protect human health and the environment by reducing or eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances at their source.

The ceremony is at 3 p.m. on Oct. 23, 2023, at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. If you can’t attend the ceremony, registration is available for just the reception which will start at 5 p.m. following the awards ceremony. Both events are open to the public and registration is required.

Expanded and Improved P2 Hub Resources Center

EPA’s gateway to P2 tools and technical resources has a new look and improved functionality to help businesses and technical assistance providers implement P2 practices. The P2 Hub includes links to more than 3,200 case studies, articles and tools related to pollution prevention.

Watch the P2 Grant Showcase webinar recording to learn from grantees across the country about their approaches to collaborative and results-driven pollution prevention work and best practices.  The showcase featured Jennie Romer, EPA’s Deputy Assistant Administrator for Pollution Prevention, and presentations from Kansas State University, Missouri State University, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Northampton Community College, Pennsylvania State University, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and University of Delaware.
