EPA Selects Grantees (Funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Nearly $12 million to be awarded, 39 recipients)

EPA announced the selection of 39 recipients across the country of nearly $12 million in P2 grants made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law's historic $100 million investment in P2.

These grants will allow states and tribes to provide businesses with technical assistance to develop and adopt P2 practices. Selected grantees will document and share P2 best practices that they identify and develop through these grants so others can replicate these practices and outcomes.

Big News for Federal Sustainable Purchasing: Implementing Instructions for EO 14057

On Aug. 31, the Biden Administration issued new instructions for federal agencies to implement Executive Order (EO) 14057, Catalyzing Clean Energy Industries and Jobs Through Federal Sustainability which set goals related to sustainability and net-zero emissions federal procurement.

The instructions direct agencies to buy products and services that address multiple environmental impacts at once. This includes sustainable products and services certified to Safer Choice and those meeting the specifications, standards and ecolabels included in the recommendations from EPA’s Environmentally Preferable Purchasing program.

Agencies are also encouraged to prioritize substitutes for products that contain perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and look for opportunities to implement restrictions beyond just PFOS and PFOA.
