P2 Program Updates:
2020 TRI Preliminary Dataset Now Available
Preliminary Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) pollution prevention (P2) data for 2020 are now available to view on a facility-by-facility basis. These data indicate what new source reduction activities facilities initiated during 2020. This fall, EPA plans to update its TRI P2 Search Tool with the 2020 data so users can access aggregated data, visualize the data, perform facility and industry sector comparisons, and access any detailed descriptions of source reduction activities facilities included in their TRI reporting forms.
EPA’s Safer Choice Program Highlighted in Sustainable Shopping Initiative
Products certified by EPA’s Safer Choice program are now included in Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly initiative, which helps customers shop for more than 75,000 products through the company’s online store. Highlighting Safer Choice-certified products makes it easier for consumers to locate products that contain safer chemical ingredients without sacrificing quality or performance. |

“Ultrasonic Aqueous Parts Cleaning in Auto Repair” details how the Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Resource Center (PPRC), an EPA Source Reduction Assistance (SRA) grantee, assisted Autobahn Motorwerks, an auto repair shop in Beaverton, Oregon, to shift from a solvent-based washer to an ultrasonic parts wash system that uses an EPA Safer Choice certified all-purpose cleaner. The ultrasonic system has saved the company money, reduced their use of solvents and the amount of solvent and sludge waste they generate, and cut their employee’s exposure to harsh solvents.
