Special Session Called by Legislative Leaders for Thursday

As mentioned in Friday Facts, this week’s special session will be historic. We expect legislators to open the special session at  9 am on Thursday morning and they will likely stay in session for up to 10 days. We expect them to tackle the state budget and multiple policy objectives in more than 10 bills. This week will be the first of several special sessions this spring. Team ULCT is working tirelessly with legislators on a variety of issues that impact cities. We presented several of them to our Board of Directors today. We expect the bills to go public tomorrow. We may need League Army advocacy team to speak directly to our legislators so stay tuned.

ULCT's Town Hall for Local Leaders

Today ULCT hosted a town hall about the economic impact of COVID-19 and what you can do to mitigate those impacts on your budget. You can watch the video HERE. You can also view the information from Juliette Tennert of the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute here. We requested your participation in our fiscal impact survey, which we explain in more detail below.

FISCAL IMPACT TASK FORCE SURVEY

Our ULCT COVID-19 fiscal task force created a three part survey to understand the impacts of COVID-19, budgetary assumptions for next fiscal year, and an overall needs assessment (in partnership with Utah State University).  This information and data will help justify ULCT’s request for the State to share the CARES Act appropriation of $562 million and our push for additional federal support, and create useful information for the larger membership. Please have your city or town complete the survey ASAP. A link to the survey can be found HERE. Please take the time to submit the survey!!!
