Walking for Health

Walking for Health

Want to get more active? Then join Stourport Strollers, a new Walking for Health group. Walks are taking place on Friday mornings from Stourport Library, starting on Friday 5 July at 10am. The group will walk for around 75 minutes and refreshments will be available afterwards. This is the latest addition to a programme of health walks taking place across Wyre Forest and beyond. They aim to help participants improve both physical and mental health. Use Walking for Health’s online Walk Finder to find your nearest health walk.

Become a Dementia Friend

You can take part in a free interactive information session to learn how dementia affects a person and what you can do to make a difference. Become a Dementia Friend and join more than two million others taking action. From being more patient in a queue to campaigning for change, every action counts. Anyone of any age can become a Dementia Friend. There is a  free one hour Dementia Friends information session at St Michael's Church in Stourport at 2pm on Friday 5 July.

Loneliness and isolation survey

Have your say on a new service to help reduce loneliness and isolation. Over the past few years, a service provided by Reconnections has helped older people in Worcestershire to overcome chronic loneliness. It aimed to assist them redevelop confidence and re-engage with activities and interests in their local community. Local health bodies are now working developing a new service for adults in Worcestershire.  They are interested to speak with the public to understand their views about loneliness and isolation, so they can ensure the new service better meets the needs of Worcestershire residents. Have your say by completing the Reducing Loneliness survey by 5pm on Monday 8 July.

Advice and information for older people

A showcase of services for older people is being held on Thursday 26 September at Kidderminster Town Hall, 10am - 1.30pm. The free event will feature a wide range of organisations offering advice and information on a range of topics including healthy living, local services, activities, staying safe, money matters and lots more. There will also be a chance to get your electric blanket safety tested for free. Simply call Age UK on 01527 871840 to book an appointment.
