Reducing Parental Conflict Training - Booking Now Open!
As mentioned in a previous email bulletin, the WSSCP have been working in partnership with Tavistock Relationships and OnePlusOne to bring you some FREE, interactive online sessions to support your work with families around parents communicating effectively and avoiding conflict that has a negative impact on children.
Tavistock Relationships are subject specialists in relationship issues and will be delivering Introductory and Advanced sessions for all practitioners from across the partnership. These sessions are free and will provide you with an insight into the impact of parental conflict on children and young people and how to have positive conversations with parents about how to communicate effectively with each other to avoid conflict.
OnePlusOne specialise in creating evidence-based early intervention resources to help people build and maintain healthy relationships. They are delivering 2-part sessions to enhance your knowledge, understanding, skills and confidence to work with parents. By the end of this training, you will be able to raise parent’s awareness of the issue around parental conflict, use digital resources to help parents recognise conflict and enable parents to develop positive communication skills and helpful conflict behaviours. Digital resources to use with parents include –
* Me, You & Baby Too – for practitioners working with new parents
* Arguing Better – for practitioners working with parents experiencing stress and conflict
* Getting it right for Children – for practitioners working with parents who are separated or going through separation

WATCH THIS SPACE -
In addition to the above training sessions, we will be launching a podcast, webinar, and animation for all practitioners to access to support this part of their safeguarding work. This will be accessible on the WSSCP website and there will also be a Relationship app called ""Between Us" that practitioners can request access to on behalf of the families they work with. This will be a resource parents and carers to use both independently and also with support from workers, and will provide support to enable parents/carers to understand the impact or parental conflict within the home and how to "argue better" and communicate more positively. More information will be available soon, so watch this space!
