A request from Emily King, Acting Director of Communities, West Sussex County Council

Hello everyone,

The biggest thing dominating the news is obviously coronavirus (COVID-19). Please continue to encourage your communities to make regular visits to the links below for the very latest national and county council information, as the situation is changing rapidly:

Please also share the following guidance to employers and businesses.

During this time, we are asking all Parish, Town and City Councils if you have a local Emergency or Community Resilience Plan please keep this under regular review and consider what actions you may need to take under the different circumstances that may emerge. Those who have just got a Winter Emergency Plan please consider how particular aspects of this could also be utilised where possible.

The Communities Directorate are working on creating a Volunteer Hub as part of our system-wide community response in conjunction with District & Borough Councils.  We will be contacting you to discuss how you could participate in this venture to support our communities.

We are looking to obtain a better understanding of the current situation amongst the Parish, Town and City Councils to try and understand our collective capacity during the pandemic. Sue Furlong will be contacting you separately by email and we would therefore appreciate your cooperation in support.

To assist in providing clear communication, advice, guidance and support where possible we are using the following two email addresses. They have been split into:

Community – For enquiries around support, advice, guidance and capacity issues, use Communities@westsussex.gov.uk

Volunteering - For offers of volunteering to support services and the vulnerable use Volunteering@westsussex.gov.uk

Your support in these unprecedented times is very much appreciated.
