Keeping our
Stakeholders and Partners informed
 Argos Toy Donation - SUCCESS!
1000 brand new Argos Toys were donated to our service, for the children and young people we work with from staff at local Argos Stores as part of their Christmas Campaign. On 6 November, IPEH and Social Care Staff were able to collect these toys and all was a great success with huge smiles on staff faces! A huge thank you to Argus Staff for donating these toys as part of their ongoing Christmas Campaign to help local families around this festive time.

Youth Parliament debating at the House of Commons!
Members of Youth Parliament aged 11-18 take part in an annual debate in the House of Commons Chamber on 9 November, chaired by the Speaker of the House of Commons RT Hon John Bercow MP. They debate five issues chosen by a ballot of young people from across the UK called Make Your Mark and then vote to decide which two issues should become the UK Youth Parliament’s priority campaigns for the year ahead.
This year’s Make Your Mark campaign was participated in by 1,106,788 young people. This makes it one of the largest youth consultations of its kind in UK history, with 1 in 5 of all young people aged 11-18 taking part. West Sussex beat their record this year with 21, 206 young people voting in the ballot. The top 5 issues voted in the House of Commons by Youth Parliament were:
- Put an end to Knife
- Mental Health
- Equal Pay, Equal Work
- Tackling Homelessness
- Votes at 16
From here, the final two chosen as campaigns for the next year were ‘Put an end to knife crime’ and ‘Votes at 16’.
A hugely successful day where young people were at the heart of the decisions.
 Five to Thrive
Your child's body grows better when you give the child good food. Your child's brain grows better when you do five simple things.
Respond * Cuddle * Relax * Play * Talk
Respond: In the first weeks of life, your child's deepest and most primitive areas of the brain are developing. These parts of the brain will control all the basic functions of the body such as sleeping and waking, appetite, and temperature control. When the parent responds to the baby’s attachment behaviours such as crying, back-arching, and chaotic arm and leg movements the baby feels safe. Stress hormones have an adverse effect on this early brain development. Read more here.

Break 4 Change
This programme supports parents/carer’s and young people in building healthy relationships. The programme aims to help the family break patterns where a young person in the home is:
- Controlling the home environment
- Being violent or aggressive towards the parent
- Putting the parent down
- Making threats
This is an amazing programme that both child and parent/carer attend at the same time.
The next Project will be run from The Glynn Owen Youth Centre, Worthing from Tuesday 22 January 2019.
