Electric Cars

Electric Racing Cars!

Last season (2017), the Purple Bus entered 2 teams into the Greenpower international competition where young people designed, built and then raced an electric racing car!

Dan Sneller, Youth Worker says, "I use Greenpower as a tool to engage young people and give them something to focus on. Alongside building cars, they are working on a number of other activities that build their social skills, life skills and raise their self-esteem."

At the end of the season, one of our teams finished in 53rd place and the other in 104th place out of over 600 team worldwide.

Greenpower have since completed a case study on the work that Dan does with IPEH young people. If you would like to read this, please email Sarah Dimmock.

Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) Events

As part of our NQSW recruitment campaign for 2018, one of the NQSWs events took place in Horsham with Shefali Shah as our guest speaker.

She entertained our prospective NQSWs with an engaging presentation about how to be confident in court, which Annie MacIver (Director of Family Operations) and Sarah Daly (Head of Children's Social Care) admitted it took them back to their early days as a Social Worker.

Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Volunteer Leader Training

On Saturday 3 February, the IPEH DofE Team started its Volunteer Leader Training with two courses from the DofE Modula Training Framework, at Seaford College. These were the 'Introduction to the DofE Course' and the 'Expedition Supervisor' training course.

Both of these were run by the IPEH DofE course directors and tutors ensuring that our young people get the correct support through their DofE awards. All of your IPEH supported young people access the DofE through DofE Centres supported by West Sussex County Councils DofE Licence.

It was a really productive day with good feedback and  an excellent course attendance.
