Five to Thrive
Your child's body grows better when you give the child good food. Your child's brain grows better when you do five simple things. Respond * Cuddle * Relax * Play * Talk
Respond: In
the first weeks of life, your child's deepest and most primitive areas of
the brain are developing. These parts of the brain will control all the basic
functions of the body such as sleeping and waking, appetite, and temperature
control. When the parent responds to the baby’s attachment behaviours such as
crying, back-arching, and chaotic arm and leg movements the baby feels
safe. Stress hormones have an adverse effect on this early brain development.

Voice and Engagement
The Young Carers Festival (YCF) is an exclusive event for young people with a caring responsibility at home. Run in partnership with The Children’s Society, YCF was created in 2000 to give young carers the chance to have fun away from their caring role, raise awareness of this often hidden group of young people and allow young carers to share experiences with others in a similar situation. 2016 saw the 17th annual festival with over 1,500 young people from across the UK attending. Want to meet the Hub System Leadership Team for Adur & Worthing or Arun? We are holding ‘meet the team’ briefing sessions, to give our partners an opportunity to meet these leads and to share how we have transformed the way services are delivered in West Sussex. We want to develop strong partnerships, clear communication, connectivity and a joined up support offer across the voluntary and community sectors.
