Healthy Child Programme in West Sussex gets an outstanding
result
Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust’s (SCFT) Healthy Child Programme in West Sussex has received an outstanding result for Stage 2 Baby Friendly accreditation by UNICEF.
To achieve this recognition SCFT’s Health Visiting and Infant Feeding Teams have undergone a rigorous assessment process to provide assurance that they deliver the very highest standards of care. SCFT received Stage 1 Baby Friendly accreditation in July 2015 and were “highly commended”. Stage 2 of the Baby Friendly Initiative assessment assesses the level of knowledge and skills of staff that are providing breastfeeding support and care for pregnant women, mothers and babies.

Feedback from the Healthy Child
Programme Stakeholder Engagement
“You Said …We Did”
Earlier this
year you and your colleagues and teams were invited to contribute to a
stakeholder engagement process for the co-design of the Healthy Child Programme
contract for West Sussex. We would like you to know how this progressed and how
your contributions were included and valued. The service specification for the
contract took into account all the comments and information we heard. The
slides summarise this and is our feedback to you.
See 1 files on SharePoint: HCP_Presentation 081116.ppt
We would
like to thank all our stakeholders for your time, your honesty and your
interest. We hope that
you will be able to support the mobilisation of the contract with the provider
who will be confirmed in December.
Please share
the slides with members of your team, school locality and colleagues who may
have contributed. Should you have any queries the contacts for the Healthy
Child Programme are on the final slide.
Apply now to get a
disability leisure discount card for Christmas
With more than 120 discounts
available for children and young people with disabilities, families should sign
up now if they want to get their Compass Card for Christmas.
The leisure discount card was
launched in West Sussex in April this year and around 15 percent of eligible
families have already signed up.
It is estimated that there
are more than 7,000 children and young people in West Sussex who are eligible
for the Compass Card West Sussex, which could see families save hundreds of
pounds a year.
Within the 120 offers
available with the card, there is a wide range of discounts and concessions for
families wanting to make the most of their Christmas break.
Offers include money off food
bills, free entry to leisure activities for carers, free swimming sessions,
free hire of DVDs, CDs and audiobooks, and a range of transport discounts. All
of the offers are listed in the free Compass Card app for iPhones and Android
smartphones.
The offers will also be
available on the new Compass Card website which is to be launched shortly at www.compasscard.org.uk.
Stephen Hillier, Cabinet
Member for Children - Start of Life, said: “There are already more than 1,100
children benefitting from the discounts available through this card which we
know will make a huge difference.
“The card is helping to break
down the barriers which stop people from accessing services and it is also a
good way for families to easily find out which activities are suitable for
children with disabilities.”
The card is available for
under 25-year-olds who are living or going to school in West Sussex, and have
special educational needs, disabilities or complex health needs that have a big
effect on their daily life.
Families signing up for the
Compass Card West Sussex, which takes up to three weeks to be processed, will
be added to the county’s disability register.
Local charity Amaze has been
commissioned to manage the discount card and the disability register and will
also be able to collate anonymous data to help West Sussex County Council
understand the volume and range of disabilities and plan for the future more
effectively.
