Reaching Families: Reaching Families is a parent-carer led charity established to "empower, inform and care for parents and families of children with special needs and disabilities in West Sussex." Scouts offers fun, challenge and adventure to over 9000 young people in West Sussex. We operate across five sections (age ranges): Beaver Scouts (6-8), Cub Scouts (8-10.5), Scouts (10.5-14), Explorer Scouts (14-18) and Scout Network (18-25). Each section has its own programme of activities, badges and awards. Scouting operates from 115 locations in West Sussex so you are never that far from your local Group. West Sussex County Council is seeking a dynamic full time Youth Worker to join the Project & Partnerships Team, part of West Sussex Young People’s Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to join colleagues who are passionate about participation and young people’s voice. The post combines specialist disability participation skills, with Duke of Edinburgh Award knowledge.
As a result, this new area of work will contribute to the Disability Strategic Implementation Plan. You will also expand involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, ensuring an equitable offer for young people with disabilities.
It is essential that you have experience working with young people and community groups in some capacity either voluntary, within community, family and/or within paid employment, and of building relationships with a range of different people including other professional practitioners.
The post is initially for 18 months, with scope to be extended and other opportunities to work within the Project & Partnerships Team.
It is grade JNC Youth Worker Range or Professional Range - points 13-16.
