Our Local Offer is constantly growing and we now have 615 services listed. Remember to use the filters and search by postcode to break down the information.
I would like to welcome:
In the last newsletter I shared with you the new developments to our Local Offer. This included providers now being able to add a video to their summary card and an improved function of the comments feature.
Parent carers and young people can leave comments on services they use.
The purpose of comments is to help other parents to make informed decisions about which services they may choose to use, so think about what would be useful for them to know.
The Local Offer is not the place to vent your anger. If you are having problems with a service we recommend you speak to them directly to try and resolve the situation. See further guidance here.
The West Sussex Parent Carer Forum after their workshops and sessions have continued to encourage parent carers to leave feedback on the Local Offer. This has then enabled them to provide quotes from parent carers on their own website. See this on their website.
Help us and encourage parent carers and young people to leave a comment on your summary card to capture your feedback and give parents a voice.
EHC Plans, Annual Reviews & Personal Budgets
If you're looking for information on EHC Plans, Annual Reviews or Personal Budgets this can all be found on our Local Offer.
Please also note there is a new Personal Budget leaflet which is being distributed but you can find an online copy here.
SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SEND IAS)
The SEND IAS Service have produced a number of informative leaflets and these to can be found on our Local Offer: here.
The leaflets cover information about SEND IAS, Communicating with Professionals, Early Years, SEN Support, EHC Plans, EHC Needs Assessments, Annual Reviews, Exclusion from Schools, IPS, Moving to West Sussex and Children and Young people leaflet.
 Making websites accessible
I would like to draw your attention to the section of our Local Offer 'Making our Local Offer Accessible'.
"The West Sussex Local Offer has been designed so that modern screen reader technology can easily navigate pages on the site. There are many ways that users can make use of features within the web browsers to help make the Local Offer site even more accessible. To find out how you can make the most of your browser, computer settings, mouse and keyboard we recommend visiting http://www.bbc.co.uk/accessibility/"
The BBC website has a number of beneficial programs you can download for free. This could benefit not only users to the Local Offer website but could be used within school or college settings for a child or young person who may need support in navigating other websites.
West Sussex County Council has teamed up with local charity Amaze to deliver the ‘Compass Card West Sussex’ which launched last Friday.
The card gives young people (aged 0-25) with special educational needs and disabilities unique offers at dozens of venues in the local area.
You can find out more information about the card and your child’s eligibility on our campaigns page and there’s also a list of all the current offers available on the Amaze website.
