Many of us have been working from home since the pandemic began, and the green team are keen to understand how this change has impacted the council’s carbon footprint as a workplace.
Transport is the biggest source of UK carbon emissions and commuting accounts for 18 billion kg of CO2e – 25% of transport emissions and 5% of total emissions.
Help us understand the impact Covid-19 has had on your commuting habits by completing this short staff travel survey.
We’ll use the data you share with us to calculate the council’s carbon footprint. We can also tell you how much carbon you’ve saved in the past year due to the pandemic.

It’s been a long month, and you may be bored of video calls, so here are some cheap and fun ideas of what you can get up to this weekend, while also focussing on your wellbeing…
- Have a movie night: Choose your favourite feel-good film, make some popcorn, dim the lights and create your own home cinema!
- Do an online yoga class: There are lots of options to choose from on YouTube, whether it’s a quick 7-minute stretching session, or a more advanced class
- Read a book: Escape into an alternative reality and get reading – this is also an ideal way to reduce your screen time
- Write a gratitude list: What are you most grateful for right now? What are you looking forward to doing when this is over? Jot it down!
Do you have any tips for your fellow colleagues? If you do don’t forget to share them on the discussion board.
