Garden waste collections to restart
Garden waste collections will restart in Wokingham Borough tomorrow (7 January) after they were temporarily suspended. The service was paused earlier this week due to a high number of Covid-19 cases amongst our waste collection contractor Veolia’s staff.
Collections will go ahead as planned from Thursday (7 January), following the revised Christmas collection schedule. Any residents due to have their collections from Thursday onwards are advised to put out their brown bin or garden waste sacks for collection as normal.
Residents who were missed on Tuesday and Wednesday (5-6 January) are advised to put their garden waste out for collection on Saturday and then leave them out until Sunday if it is not picked up. The collections will follow the revised schedule outlined below.

Get more blue bin bags
As we go into the New Year we know more residents will be running low on blue bags for general waste.
You can buy more on our website and then arrange for these to be delivered by following the instructions, which takes up to 10 working days.
No council-operated collection points are currently open due to the Government’s national lockdown guidelines, but a few local outlets are operating.
This newsletter will be the best place to keep up to date on when we reopen locations for collection of these items.
Visiting the tip
Government guidance is to stay at home during the national lockdown but the re3 recycling centres at Longshot Lane, Bracknell, and Smallmead, Reading, remain open as a key public service.
If you are unable to store your waste at home or can't wait for your kerbside collections, then you can book a slot to visit via the click and tip service.
Safety rules remain in place at both sites to protect staff and visitors. Remember this is for essential journeys only and any visitors should keep to two metre distancing guideline at all times.
