Dear Colleague,
Throughout the last week we have been in discussions with Public Health regarding the new variant Coronavirus and the impact this may have on transmission rates particularly amongst younger people. There are also indications that the symptoms of this new strain extend beyond those of a new continuous cough, a change of taste and smell and fever.
As a result we are asking you to familiarise yourselves with the information in the attached slides and the new requirements for reporting cases to Public Health and additional testing for staff or pupils who become unwell, as well as clarification around isolation for those identified as positive following PCR or are awaiting results.
There are also two engagement sessions planned for Tuesday 25 May from 4pm to 5pm and Wednesday 26 May from 2pm to 3pm. These sessions are open to all providers, settings and schools including childminders, nurseries, colleges.
If you could send any questions that you may have in advance of the meetings that would be very helpful.
The session scheduled for Friday 28 with ASPIC colleagues will not go ahead this week instead being replaced by colleagues’ attendance at one of these sessions.
The invite to the meetings are included here:
Tuesday 25 May 4 – 5 pm Microsoft Teams join meeting link
or Wednesday 26 May 2 -3 pm. Microsoft Teams join meeting link
Best wishes,
Brenda
