Message from Phil Leivers

Dear Colleagues,

There is much speculation in the press about what life will be like post June 21. What we don’t know yet is what that will mean for schools and education settings. Covid-19 will not have disappeared and we will all want to keep schools open and manage cases as they emerge. The importance of contact tracing will remain and maintaining good hygiene regimes.

To support and prepare for any changes we would like to invite school leaders to an engagement session with colleagues from education, public health and health and safety. There will be two sessions for you to choose, mixed nursery, primary and secondary schools.

Tuesday 25 May 4 – 5 pm

or Wednesday 26 May 2 -3 pm.

Special schools have a session on Friday 1pm onwards 28 May which will include the same material.

A session for Early Years will also be arranged and the date shared shortly.

A summary of the changes in the guidance released on Monday 10 May can be found here.

Best Wishes,

Phil

COVID-19 Information

Schools COVID-19 Helpline closed over half-term

Public Health and Education are asking schools to complete a brief weekly form to monitor the number of cases in pupils/staff and the number of pupils/staff self-isolating. The need for this form has been identified in conjunction with several Heads and will help us build a picture of the current COVID-19 situation across Wolverhampton Educational Settings.  Please could the form be completed every Friday, starting on Friday 14 May.

The form is here: https://forms.office.com/r/PJU9JUTHqh

Due to the low case rates within Wolverhampton at present, both in the city and within educational settings, the Schools COVID-19 Helpline will be stepped down from 4pm on May 14. This will allow staff to return to other work. After this period, schools are advised to email schoolscovid@wolverhampton.gov.uk where queries will be picked up by the Health Protection Team and a callback will be provided where necessary. This inbox is monitored between 08:30 and 16:30 Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.

Should a rise in cases be seen locally, the line will reopen to support schools.

Thank you for your cooperation.
