We would like to offer schools the opportunity to become a distribution hub, offering kits to their wider school communities (e.g. parents, carers, governors, childcare support bubbles, extra-curricular providers).

If your setting is interested in becoming a distribution hub for home test kits, or for further information on the initiative, please email Louise Sharrod. Or click here for more information.

Safeguarding

Think Family

Everyone has a responsibility to take a ‘Think Family’ approach in the context of safeguarding children and adults and should be at the heart of practice across all partner agencies within the partnership.

What do we mean by ‘Think Family’?

A Think Family approach refers to the steps taken by children’s, young peoples and adult practitioners to identify wider family needs which extend beyond the individual they are supporting.

For example, in relation to safeguarding, if you work primarily with adults, you still consider the safeguarding needs of children, and if you work with children you still consider the needs of the vulnerable adults. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Support Services for Schools

Covid Local Support Grant

City of Wolverhampton Council has been granted further additional funding to support individuals and families impacted by Covid-19 through the Covid Local Support Grant.

In Wolverhampton we will continue to support those eligible for FSM during term time through the May Half Term holiday. (As in previous holiday periods this support will not be automatically allocated – further details have been sent direct to schools via email).

In addition to this the conditions of grant allow for further support to be made available to families in the latter part of the Summer Term. For example, support with costs associated with attending school such as the purchase of school uniforms or shoes

Further updates regarding the support available will be released via this Bulletin in the coming weeks.

Year 4 optional Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) for 2021- Update

Please note that there has been an update from the DfE regarding the Year 4 optional MTC for 2021. The administration guidance has now been published and can be accessed here. Schools can choose to administer the multiplication tables check (MTC) to year 4 pupils, between Monday 7 June and Friday 25 June.

We would strongly encourage schools to enter their Year 4 pupils for the optional MTC. This will provide useful assessment information about which children may need further support with developing good times tables recall, particularly as they move into Year 5, although this will not be detailed, for example, not on question by question basis. Good recall of times tables is crucial for children as it helps them access many areas of the mathematics curriculum in Key Stage 2 more easily and is deemed an area of high value learning.
