 Major boost for former Royal Hospital site
Jessup has been awarded the redevelopment of the Wolverhampton Royal Hospital site, by Homes England. Jessup will be working in partnership with whg, a leading local housing association. The development will see the iconic hospital converted into apartments for the over 55s as a wellbeing scheme.
The regeneration also proposes to provide houses and apartments on land to the rear of the hospital building, for sale, shared ownership and affordable rent. The ‘Porters Lodge’ will also be refurbished. Jessup will be working closely with City of Wolverhampton Council and partners to progress the design and ensure it meets the high-quality standards required.
Jessup and whg are also currently progressing a redevelopment of the former bus depot site at Cleveland Road in front of the Royal Hospital.  Wolves at Work connect hundreds to Magna jobs
Wolves at Work employment programme is helping hundreds of people secure jobs through a partnership with Magna Specialist Confectioners.
The company, based in Telford, are Europe’s largest manufacturer of Hollow and Shell-moulding chocolate products.
Since the summer it has connected with Wolves at Work, which is run by City of Wolverhampton Council and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), to help more than 550 Wolverhampton residents secure seasonal Production Operative roles through a series of recruitment activities in the city.  CityFibre appointed for full fibre network rollout as part of strategy
The council has named CityFibre as its partner to roll out full fibre connectivity to public sector premises across the City of Wolverhampton.
It forms part of the council’s overall Digital Infrastructure Strategy to improve broadband connectivity to enable smart technology and accessibility for all, improved digital infrastructure complementing electric vehicle growth and sustainable transport.
CityFibre, the UK’s third national digital infrastructure platform, has major fibre infrastructure projects in more than 60 towns and cities throughout the UK.
They will begin roll out this spring of a full fibre network solution capable of delivering gigabit connectivity in Wolverhampton, after the council secured £4.9million government funding from the Department of Digital Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) Local Full Fibre Network project. Read more...
 Wolverhampton Citizens' assembly launched to tackle climate change
Following the council’s declaration of a climate emergency last year, a commitment was made to produce a climate change strategy which details how the council will reduce its CO2 levels to zero by 2028.
Further to this, the council made a commitment to form a citizens’ assembly to enable Wolverhampton residents to play a role in how decisions are made by their elected representatives as part of the development of the city’s response to climate change.
A small scale citizens’ assembly was launched on Monday, February 3 and two workshop sessions will take place on 14 and 21 February.
The assembly will ensure residents of Wolverhampton will have a key role in developing a plan to reduce climate emissions. Read more...
