 Construction training hub helping unemployed
Unemployed Wolverhampton residents are benefitting from a new £100,000 sub-regional construction training hub in the city.
The hub is based at WV Living’s ‘The Marches’ housing development on the site of the former Wednesfield High School and is being run by Wolves at Work employment programme in partnership with contractors Willmott Dixon and City of Wolverhampton College.
So far seven of the first 20 trainees to have completed a four-week course via the hub have found temporary or full-time employment, with regular support remaining in place from Wolves at Work to help find jobs for the others. Read more...

City of Wolverhampton Council is consulting with the public to assist in the decision-making process with plans to improve the Willenhall Road corridor.
The Willenhall Road corridor (A454) is a key gateway into the City of Wolverhampton and a direct link that connects the city to the Black Country and strategic road network via M6 Junction 10.
Significant regeneration proposals have been outlined at key locations along the route, including plans for 8,000 new homes and 12,000 new jobs in the area. Read more... |

 Royal visit signals changing times on Heath Town through regeneration
Heath Town Estate celebrated its 50th anniversary in style with a recent Royal visit from HRH The Duke of Gloucester.
He followed in the footsteps of his cousin, the late HRH Princess Margaret, who officially opened the estate half a century ago.
The Duke heard how £120 million plans are transforming the area, with a mixture of more than 300 new City of Wolverhampton Council and WV Living homes in the pipeline, and existing blocks already undergoing major improvements, alongside the creation of three new play areas and a football pitch.  International council backs Black Country's UNESCO Geopark bid
The Black Country’s bid to become a world-famous UNESCO Global Geopark has received international backing.
The UNESCO Global Geoparks Council recently announced following their meeting in Indonesia that it has recommended the Black Country UNESCO Global Geopark bid be endorsed by the Executive Board of UNESCO when it meets in the spring.
Although the recommendation is no guarantee, the team behind the bid sees this as an extremely positive step forward in its efforts to secure this international status. Read more...
