 Major plans approved for former bus depot site
Plans have been approved for the £21 million transformation of the former bus depot site in Cleveland Road to make it a key gateway to Wolverhampton city centre.
It will breathe new life into the area, with the nearby former Royal Hospital building set to become a major feature, fronting a new public open space.
The proposed new buildings on the former bus depot site have been carefully designed in a clean modern style, to allow the elevations to stand the test of time and continually enhance the period architecture of the much-admired hospital building. Read more...
 Application submitted for new Heath Town homes
A planning application has been submitted for the first new council homes as part of a major transformation of the Heath Town estate.
Architects, Walker Troup, have put forward designs for 16 four-bedroom homes and 24 two-bedroom homes on land off Hobgate Road and Tithe Croft.
They will be the first of more than 300 new homes to be built for rent and sale on the estate over the coming years, with the council set to develop nine sites and WV Living putting in place plans to build on a further five sites.
The application is part of the revised Heath Town Masterplan and follows an extensive demolition programme of buildings, some of which had been vacant for years. Read more...

 Restoration and improvement work set to start on iconic Civic Halls
The major construction phase of the Civic Halls’ full restoration and improvement programme is set to get the green light – with works set to begin in weeks.
The iconic Grade II listed building has been closed while contractors carry out extensive asbestos removal. This is now expected to be completed in a matter of weeks.
This paves the way for essential structural, engineering and electrical works and the major restoration and improvements of the 80-year-old halls to ensure they remain a leading performance venue for decades to come.
The new programme means the Civic Halls will now re-open for business in autumn 2021, following its £38.1 million overhaul. Read more...
 Wolverhampton to #FireItUp for National Apprenticeship Week
City of Wolverhampton Council has teamed up with city partners to host a series of events to mark National Apprenticeship Week (March 4-8).
The week will kick off with an event at the Civic Centre to celebrate the achievements of apprentices who have completed their programmes.
From Tuesday, March 5 to Thursday, March 7, between 9am to 4.30pm people of all ages can drop in to the Civic Centre to get information on apprenticeships from the council, University of Wolverhampton and other partners.
On Friday, March 8, at Wolverhampton Civic Centre, from 10am to 1pm, there is an opportunity for those interested in apprenticeships, either for themselves or a friend/family member, to find out more first-hand from current apprentices employed in the city. Read more...
