Wolves at Work is celebrating hitting major targets well ahead of schedule.
The City of Wolverhampton Council and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) employment programme set out in January 2017 to get 3,000 local people into work, including 1,000 young people.

 £6m steel logistics centre opens in the city
UK manufacturing has been given a major boost with the opening of a Brexit busting new £6 million steel logistics centre in the City of Wolverhampton.
Over the past 12 months the German owned freight operator, DB Cargo UK, has more than doubled the size of its existing facility in Knowles Road, which receives imported steel from as far afield as Holland and Sweden.
The project is one of the largest investments in rail freight in the past 5 years and is seen as a major vote of confidence in the UK's continuing ability to trade and attract inward investment post-Brexit. Read more...
The University of Wolverhampton has appointed a main build contractor for its new School of Architecture and the Built Environment at its £100 million Springfield Campus.
ISG has been awarded the contract to build the flagship facility on the campus, with work starting this month.
Associated Architects has designed the new School, which centres around the original clock tower building and combines it with a striking large new build element. Read more...

Plans announced to breathe new life into Bilston town centre
Plans to transform and revitalise town centres across the West Midlands have been unveiled.
The pioneering project from the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and local councils will initially target five town centres, including Bilston.
Following already extensive investment in and around Bilston Urban Village, the focus is now on the town centre and the high street, with a masterplan being developed to provide the town centre with the economic boost it needs. Read more...

Businesses to attend eBay's first UK Retail Revival training event and Expo
More than 70 City of Wolverhampton businesses will attend eBay’s first UK ‘Retail Revival’ training event and Expo at Molineux Stadium, on Friday, November 2.
It will take place between 9am and 4.30pm, with a networking opportunity and exhibition running from noon to 1.30pm.
Rob Hattrell, UK Vice President for eBay, will be in attendance alongside his senior team and 40 eBay technical support employees, as well as council representatives.
The 12-month Retail Revival programme was officially launched during last month’s City of Wolverhampton Business Programme.
A historic factory that helped put Wolverhampton on the industrial map is delivering construction apprenticeship opportunities for city residents as it is transformed into homes.
Developer Hamilton James Construction Ltd has recently taken on five apprentices to learn their trade on the former Niphon Works development at Lower Villiers Street in Blakenhall.
Four have progressed from the City of Wolverhampton Council and Department for Work and Pensions’ Wolves at Work programme, with the other coming through the Women into Construction course, both run in partnership with City of Wolverhampton College. Read more... |
