VIDEOS: Wolves FC and council MDs on the city

City of Wolverhampton’s annual Business Breakfast yesterday saw around 400 businesses attend the flagship Business Programme event at GTG Training and Conference Centre.

Hosted by broadcaster Steph McGovern, the audience heard Wolves FC’s Managing Director, Laurie Dalrymple, talk about the club’s ambitions and the impact of Premier League football on the city.

City of Wolverhampton Council Managing Director, Tim Johnson, also outlined where he sees the city heading in the next two years.

eBay UK Vice President, Rob Hattrell, spoke about this week’s launch of the ‘Retail Revival’ programme in the city and introduced Moh Agha from one of the city businesses they are working with.

eBay announces new partnership with city

Online marketplace eBay this week announced a 12-month partnership with the City of Wolverhampton to help small retailers get online, grow the local economy and demonstrate that online and high street retail can coexist. 

The scheme will run for 12 months and see experts from the marketplace stationed in the city to provide exclusive support to small retailers who want to start up or expand their online presence. Read more...

Railway Station demolition

Historic day for Interchange as full demolition starts on railway station

Today (Friday) marked a historic moment for the City of Wolverhampton as machines began full demolition of the city’s railway station. 

It is the next stage in delivering a £150 million transport hub to provide an attractive commercial gateway to those entering the city by national rail, bus or tram. 

The scheme has been cleverly designed in two phases to ensure train services from City of Wolverhampton continue to operate as normal throughout. Read more...

Steelpark

Steelpark jobs and investment boost for the City of Wolverhampton

The £7 million construction of a range of industrial and warehouse units is set to bring 165 jobs to the City of Wolverhampton. 

The development of six units at Steelpark Trading Estate, at Steelpark Way and Bearing Drive, in Wednesfield, is close to being completed. All six units are either sold, let or under offer. 

They have been developed by commercial property company Goold Estates and provide around 70,000 sq ft of industrial/warehouse space. Read more...

First home on City of Wolverhampton Tap Works scheme to go on show

The first of 150 new homes are emerging on the Tap Works Development scheme in Low Hill – with the show home set to open its doors tomorrow (Saturday).

Galliford Try Partnerships is delivering the project, which consists of three derelict locations – the historic former Armitage Shanks Tap Works Factory site, and land on Fifth Avenue and Broome Road. Once complete, the homes will be sold under the group’s Linden Homes brand.

Forty of the units will be council homes for rent, with the remainder to be sold as market housing. Read more...
