 Great atmosphere at new city centre market
The new Wolverhampton city centre market was buzzing with customers on opening day at its new
location on Cleveland Street this week.
Crowds flocked to the
market where there was a general feel-good factor, with both shoppers and
traders optimistic about the new surroundings.
Fruit and veg trader
Julie Emery said: "We like it a lot, it's absolutely fabulous, much better than

 Council to establish a city centre commission
City of Wolverhampton Council is to establish a commission
to further develop its plan and strategic vision to reshape its city centre.
The news was announced by Cabinet Member for City Economy,
Councillor John Reynolds, at Wednesday's full council meeting.
It comes in response to one of the core recommendations in
the national Grimsey Review 2 – published just over a fortnight ago – which
looks at ways to deliver a sustainable High Street in the wake of a challenging
retail climate where stores are closing.
A council report (Enabling a Vibrant City Centre) put
forward to its Stronger City Economy Scrutiny Board last month outlined a
considerable range of measures a council taskforce has started pursuing to

Blooms Menswear
on Tuesday scooped the headline ‘Independent of the Year’ honour at the
annual Wolverhampton Independent Retail Excellence (WIRE) Awards.
Businesses from
across the city attended the glittering ceremony at Molineux Stadium’s WV1
Suite, which played host to around 250 guests.
Nine other awards
were handed out, after 27 businesses were shortlisted from nearly 250 entries. Read more...

First WV Living show home to open to the public at Danesmore Pastures
WV Living will open
the doors to the public on its first ever show home in the City of Wolverhampton
tomorrow (Saturday).
It is a major
milestone for the City of Wolverhampton Council-owned housing company, which is
aiming to deliver a first phase of 1,000 new homes over five years in response
to rising demand.
The show home forms
part of the Danesmore Pastures development, which will see 52 homes, including
13 affordable homes, built by contractors Jessup Brothers on the site of the
former Danesmore Park Primary School by May 2019.
