VIDEO: i54 extension planning app on way

An award-winning business park which is home to global industry leaders and thousands of skilled employees is preparing for major expansion.

A planning application for a western extension to i54 South Staffordshire is set to be submitted in spring 2018.

The park’s development and investment success is as a result of a partnership between the City of Wolverhampton Council, Staffordshire County Council and South Staffordshire District Council.

There is potential to extend over 100 acres – attracting a further £600 million of private investment and delivering up to 2,700 more jobs.

An initial planning application to South Staffordshire District Council will be for development of the first 60 acres of land between Wobaston Road, Pendeford Hall Lane and the current i54 site. Read more and watch video.

Landlord receives heavy fine after council takes him to task for offences

City of Wolverhampton Council hope the conviction of a city landlord and his company earlier this month will act as a strong deterrent to others who put their tenants’ health and safety at risk.

Harbhajan Singh Dhami, of Ednam Road, pleaded guilty to failing to put right 32 housing offences at a HMO (house in multiple occupation) in Merridale Lane.

He and his company, Dhami Accommodation Ltd, received fines, charges and costs totalling £33,995, at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on February 1.

City of Wolverhampton Council’s Rent with Confidence scheme to improve the quality of housing in the private sector is also making its mark.

More than 1,600 properties and 700 landlords have been star-rated. Read more...
