 New Debenhams store lifts Mander Centre
A
new era dawned at the Mander Centre today (Thursday) as Debenhams opened its flagship store as
part of the centre’s £35 million refurbishment.
The Mayor of Wolverhampton, Cllr Elias Mattu, former Wolves star Jody Craddock, and local hero, Ann Guest, cut the ribbon to let in
thousands of eager shoppers.
Almost 90 per cent of the store’s workforce
are residents in the city – taking up around 130 of the 150 jobs created.

 New city centre market works get underway
Preparatory work on
Wolverhampton’s new £4.9 million city centre market this week got underway.
City of
Wolverhampton Council announced in January the relocation of the market from
Market Square.
The new Southside
site, fronting Cleveland Street, will boast 20 cabins and 48 stalls.
The new market will
also provide increased footfall from the Wulfrun Centre and transport
Interchange, as well as situating the market in a student catchment area. Read more...
 TV star to put Wolves in Wolves under hammer
Members of City of
Wolverhampton’s wolf pack from the city’s biggest ever public art event are to be
officially auctioned off for charity next month.
The proceeds will
be shared between Outside Centre and the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Cllr Elias
Mattu’s chosen charities.
Will Farmer,
Director of Fielding Auctioneers Ltd, who is well known for his appearances on
BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, will lead the Wolves in Wolves auction in the Hayward

£1million Sunbeam development deal shows city firm is a 'glass' act
A Wolverhampton
business is being helped with its expansion plans by the council’s business
growth team after securing a £1 million contract from the city’s Sunbeam
development.
Kalsun Aluminium is
supplying the specialist windows, which have a noise-reducing acoustic skin, for
the renovation of the landmark building off Penn Road Island.
Wolverhampton-born
developer Liam Wordley is in the final few months of a £12.5 million, four-year
project to convert the historic Sunbeam factory into a mixture of 117 one to

Wolverhampton resident Caty serves up new city centre business
Deputy Mayor of
Wolverhampton, Councillor Phil Page, has officially opened a new vintage
tea room – boosting the number of start-up businesses in the city centre.
K Teas Cakes is now
serving up home-baked cakes, afternoon and cream teas, and coffees, at Unit 4,
St Georges Parade.
It is a venture
being driven by 41-year-old owner, Caty Jones, who has lived in the City of
Wolverhampton for the last 27 years.
She adds to the
number of female entrepreneurs in the city, which was highlighted as an

interest for private sector non-executive LEP Board Members.
It is looking
for individuals who can bring a depth of experience aligned to its strategic
aims and are able to make an active contribution to the work of the LEP, as well as
demonstrate integrity and commitment.
