“Such a buzz in Wolverhampton – fab to hear about latest
investment/growth plans. This city has got swagger.”
That was the verdict of respected business journalist and
broadcaster, Steph McGovern, on Twitter after she hosted City of
Wolverhampton’s Business Breakfast.
The flagship event of Business Week saw 250 business
representatives and city stakeholders hear from the above keynote speakers and City of Wolverhampton Council Managing Director, Keith Ireland, at GTG Training
Centre in Wednesfield.
 CBRE hail Interchange as invaluable to city
Wolverhampton
Interchange project has been hailed at Business Week as a unique selling point
for investment and development in the city.
That’s the verdict
of CBRE Senior Director Gary Cardin, who spoke at the Business
Breakfast flagship event.
The world’s largest
commercial real estate services and investment firm has been commissioned to
develop City of Wolverhampton’s ten-year city centre investment prospectus.
This includes
opportunities around the £150 million Interchange project, which centres on the
development of a new railway station and the Midland Metro extension to it. Read more...
 Council signs Armed Forces Covenant
City of
Wolverhampton Council today (Friday) signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant –
and city businesses are being urged to do the same.
Mayor of
Wolverhampton, Councillor Elias Mattu, and Cabinet Member for City Economy,
Councillor John Reynolds, and Lieutenant Colonel Lee Mulholland, Commanding
Officer of 4th Battalion The Mercian Regiment, put pen to paper at the
Battalion’s regional headquarters in Fallings Park, Wolverhampton.
It was one of the final
events of Wolverhampton Business Week and businesses and partner organisations
attending discovered how they can play a part in supporting the Armed Forces,

Westside phase one could deliver almost 1,000 jobs for the city
Economic analysis by Urban&Civic’s planning
consultant, Lichfields, shows the Westside development first phase could
deliver almost 1,000 jobs to the City of Wolverhampton.
A multiplex cinema,
50,000 square feet of additional leisure space, new restaurants covering 40,000
square feet, a 100-plus bed hotel, and a multi-storey car park are lined up on and
around Market Square.
It is anticipated 430 new jobs will be created once all
of phase one is open to the public - and more than 500 construction jobs will
be available during its two-year build.
Urban&Civic last week submitted an official
planning application for the first phase and the latest jobs figures come as
major boost during Wolverhampton Business Week. Read more...

Companies do battle in Business Week It's a Knockout challenge
Businesses from across the City of Wolverhampton
battled it out in WV Active’s It’s a Knockout teamwork event - held
as part of the city’s Business Week.
The hour-long challenge saw teams of four tackling a pillow bash game,
unclimbable ladder, Total Wipeout style big red balls obstacle and an
inflatable volleyball game.
Last year’s
winners AF Blakemore & Son Ltd successfully defended their title and other Wolverhampton businesses, including Wiggle and Express & Star, entered teams as they competed to win
a month’s Platinum Membership each and café vouchers to use at the City of
Wolverhampton Council-owned leisure centres. Read more...
 Wolverhampton Art Gallery's Georgian Room closes for refurbishment
Wolverhampton Art
Gallery’s Georgian Room has temporarily closed to undergo
major refurbishment for the first time in 30 years.
It is part of the
ongoing improvement works to the city’s popular Lichfield Street gallery, which played host to the Mayor of Wolverhampton's Business Week investors celebration event.
The room is
expected to re-open at the end of October and artist’s impressions have been
