 Council's own housing company name revealed
City of
Wolverhampton Council has revealed its new housing company will be called WV Living.
The detailed
business case for the company is set to be approved by Full Council in
September and it will start trading shortly after.
Work on the first
phase of homes to be built is then expected to begin in spring 2017.
Wolverhampton
currently has sufficient land identified to meet projected housing targets but
the council is eager to increase the rate of delivery. Watch video...
 City partners join forces to support BHS workers
City of
Wolverhampton Council has joined forces with city partners to provide support
to the BHS workers who have lost their jobs at the Dudley Street store.
The famous British
retailer is currently in consultation with its staff after announcing the closure of its outlets across the country.
The Wolverhampton
store ceased trading on Wednesday, August 3.
It employed 100
staff, all from the city, many of whom have vast years of experience in the
retail industry.
The Council,
Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Job Centre Plus, Department for
Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), and Local Enterprise Partnership have put in place practical measures to help look after the welfare of those

 Learn about Midland Metro extension at information events
With
ground investigation works starting associated with the extension of the Midland
Metro into the heart of Wolverhampton and to Wolverhampton railway station, Transport for West Midlands will be holding a
number of public information events.
Staff
from the Midland Metro Alliance, the partnership responsible for the design,
development and building of the Midland Metro will be available at the dates,
times and locations below:
Saturday, August 6: 11am until 3pm at Wolverhampton Bus Station
Tuesday, August 9: 9.30am until 12.30pm at Wolverhampton Railway Station
Tuesday, August 9: 1pm until 4pm at St Georges Metro Stop
Wednesday, August 10: 10am until 4pm at Queen Street, Wolverhampton
 Have your say on Mayoral WMCA Functions Scheme
Having negotiated and accepted the devolution agreement, Wolverhampton along with the other six Constituent Councils and the WMCA have approved the creation of a
Mayoral Combined Authority including the election of a Mayor and the associated
Mayoral WMCA Functions Scheme for consultation.
This scheme details the powers and functions that are
being sought by the WMCA to enable the Mayoral WMCA, in conjunction with the
Mayor, to deliver the devolution agreement.
The consultation
asks for your views on the different functions it is proposed the Mayoral WMCA
