Bilston Urban Village plots going to market
Marketing of the
remaining residential development land at City of Wolverhampton Council’s
multi-million pound Bilston Urban Village site is set to begin next month.
This spring Kier
will begin building 78 units comprising one, two, three and four-bedroom
properties on the first two plots, located on the west side of Dudley Street
either side of the entrance into Carder Crescent.
The advanced works
programme undertaken by the council to make the brownfield land ready for
development will be completed at the beginning of May.
This will make a
further 27 acres of land available to residential developers to build up to 400
new homes in a quality environment, alongside new employment areas and leisure
facilities on other parts of the urban village site.
The marketing
process for the Bilston Urban Village residential development land was approved
by the council’s Cabinet (Resources) Panel on Tuesday night. Read more...

Homes & Communities Agency acquire former Royal Hospital site for development
The Homes &
Communities Agency (HCA) has acquired the former Royal Hospital site in
Wolverhampton - to create new homes and a high profile gateway development into
the city centre.
The 12.5 acres of land, which also
comprises the former bus depot and further development land, has been sold by
Tesco to the HCA for an undisclosed sum and will be predominately used for
residential development - including starter homes - alongside a potential new
campus for Wolverhampton College, utilising the listed former hospital
buildings.
City of Wolverhampton Council
believes the disposal to the HCA marks a major step forward for the city and
will allow a comprehensive regeneration of the site, which has lay dormant
following the decision by Tesco not to proceed with a new retail development.
