Wolverhampton No.1 for highways and transport
City of Wolverhampton Council has topped the chart of 100 local authorities for public satisfaction in the National Highways and Transport (NHT) Network Survey Report 2015.
It is a huge boost as the city gears up for major works to start this year on delivering the £120 million Interchange scheme.
The survey results from the sector's leading improvement organisation show Wolverhampton is above average in 21 of the 24 key indicators and average in the remaining 3.
The main themes covered as part of the public satisfaction survey are Accessibility, Public Transport, Walking and Cycling, Tackling Congestion, Road Safety, and Highways Maintenance.
The council's overall above-average mark of 60% is based on 489 responses to the questionnaire in Wolverhampton. Read more...

Superdrug first store to open at showpiece i10 on Friday
On Friday Superdrug will become the first tenant to open its doors for business at Wolverhampton's city centre showpiece i10 building.
The UK's second largest beauty and health retailer has moved into the ground floor after the multi million pound office and retail development was completed in December.
It is the company's second store in the city centre, creating 10 jobs and attracting further investment into the city, while its Mander Centre outlet also remains open for business. Read more...
 £120 million Interchange partners highlight Metro extension merits
City of Wolverhampton Council and Centro have highlighted the importance of the planned Metro extension to the city centre's £120 million Interchange.
Preparatory works are expected to start later this year on connecting the existing Metro service from Birmingham with the soon to be redeveloped railway station via Pipers Row and Railway Drive.
New tram stops are proposed at the railway station, and either side of Pipers Row, near Castle Street, directly outside the bus station.
During the works the council will be working closely with Midland Metro promoter, Centro, to keep traffic disruption to a minimum. Read more...
