Public Health Annual Review

The theme of this year's annual report from the Director of Public Health in Warwickshire explores the impact of work on health and wellbeing.

With our working age population growing and ageing, and 1 in 3 reporting at least one long-term condition, it is vital that organisations from across the private, public and voluntary and community sectors work together to create good jobs and healthy workplaces for all.

Talk Boost

This free event, on the afternoon of  Wednesday 4 December at Kenilworth’s Chesworth Grange, will offer more opportunities for people to be inspired to experience wellbeing in new ways.

The afternoon will include a series of workshops and networking opportunities, but places will be limited, so watch out for news of how to reserve yours!

Three happiness heroes will share their fascinating secrets at a panel discussion on 20 October, 7pm - 8.30pm.

New AskSARA website could make life easier for you

A new website has been launched that shows people gadgets and solutions that can make life easier for them.

Called AskSARA, the easy-to-use website helps improve people’s access to a range of ‘self-help’ smart technology and associated services in Warwickshire.

Good Gym

Good Gym is on its way to Warwick and Leamington!

Good Gym is a community of runners that combines getting fit with doing good.

There are Good Gym groups all over the country and, after a Coventry group launched during the Year of Wellbeing, a new group is about to arrive in Warwick and Leamington, launching on 16 October!

This new group is a great way to help local people, relieve loneliness and get fit.

Entrust Bears FC

Entrust Bears FC kick off in south Warwickshire

Thanks to the Entrust Care Partnership, Warwick-based Entrust Bears FC is up and running, providing football for children and young people who might otherwise not get the chance to play organised sport.

They meet every Tuesday at St Nicolas Sports Centre, Warwick.

A short film has been made to share more about this fantastic project.

Ask Twice

World Mental Health Day - Thursday 10 October

Time to Change is asking us all to consider how we respond when we ask someone how they are, with their #asktwice campaign. Watch the film to find out more.

The theme this year for World Mental Health Day is suicide prevention. Why not 'Save a life....take the training' which is FREE and only takes 20 minutes to complete.

Steve Bland to appear at Coventry's Being Well Festival

Steve Bland will join a host of inspirational speakers at the Being Well Festival at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena on Thursday, October 24 which aims to promote happier, healthier lives by educating people about their health and general wellness.

North Warks Leisure Centre

Leisure centres recruit new users

North Warwickshire leisure centres threw open their doors to mark the Year of Wellbeing for an August Bank Holiday Discovery Day.

More than 450 people visited the centres at Atherstone, Coleshill and Polesworth on the day, with around a third of these being new users trying new ways to get physically active.

Canal clean up

Canal clean up

Nuneaton volunteers and community workers rolled their sleeves up and got to work on a canal clean up in the town, this month.

The Year of Wellbeing is organised by the Coventry and Warwickshire Health and Wellbeing Boards which include representation from all of the NHS organisations in our area, together with Healthwatch, local councils, the police and the fire service. The aim of the year is to share resources to support stronger, healthier communities, and to promote the important of taking action to improve health and wellbeing.
