Let the games begin!

Thousands of amateur athletes will descend on the city of Coventry next week in this year’s European Corporate Games, the world's largest multi-sports festival.

With 23 sports to choose from, whether it be basketball, swimming, table tennis or tenpin bowling, there is something for everyone and every size and kind of organisation.

Approximately 200 employees from across Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council will be taking part in events across the three days from 2 to 4 August, with many being held at The University of Warwick, as well as others including Coventry's Xcel Leisure Centre and along the River Avon in Stratford.

You can read more about the games and view the official programme here.

Cycle to work day

On your bike for Cycle to Work Day!

Cycle to work day (CTWD) returns on the 8th of August and is a great way to squeeze some exercise into your day!

Whether you're a novice cyclist just starting out, or someone who cycles everywhere, CTWD is the perfect way for everyone to get that little bit of fitness on their commute.

There are many benefits of choosing to cycle to work over driving or using public transport, both for your physical and mental health, and also for the environment, helping to reduce pollution levels.

With this summer looking like a sunny one, it’s a great way to get outside and enjoy the warm weather, plus, you never know, you could catch the cycling bug and this could become the start of a great new habit.

If you need help planning your journey on two wheels, use the Coventry and Warwickshire active travel site to help you find the best route.

Our latest blogger, Alison, is a shining example of how building regular exercise into your daily life, such as cycling, can lead to a healthier mind and body. Read Alison's story here.

Happy Cycling!
