Year of Wellbeing Festival marks Mental Health Awareness Week

Broadgate, in Coventry city centre, is to host a one day Year of Wellbeing Festival on Saturday 18 May, to mark the end of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Come and find out more about local services and how to improve your mental health and wellbeing.

The event, running from 10am to 3pm, will feature music and activities, as well as more than 30 stalls from local organisations and services.

Dementia Suitcase Stories

Lets talk about dementia

Dementia Action Week will run from 20 to 26 May this year and aims to get people of all ages talking about dementia.

For a selection of events taking place across Coventry take a look at the Living Well newsletter.

In Warwickshire, Suitcase Stories will offer engaging reminiscence sessions for people living with dementia and their carers. Come along to Kenilworth and Alcester for sing-alongs to music from the 40s, 50s and 60s, sharing memories and dressing up, along with a cup of tea and a biscuit or two!

Kick off for Entrust FC

Do you know young people who might be interested in joining a football project for youngsters aged 12 and over with additional needs?

Entrust have launched a new football project working with Sky Blues in the Community.

The project will provide activities for all youngsters with additional needs who want to take part.

Coventry Comedy Festival 2019

Coventry Comedy Festival has arrived!

Coventry's first ever Comedy Festival, running 3 to 12 May, will be inviting people to take part in some serious academic research on improving people’s wellbeing – by having a good laugh! 

Read more about the 'Laughie' experiment being led by the University of Derby.

Also performing during the week is local comic, Josh Pugh, just one of a host of well-known performers taking part.

Cook Together Eat Together

Cook Together Eat Together project teaches new skills

Cook Together Eat Together is a free cooking club offering the chance to meet new people, cook new things and learn new recipes for residents of Coventry aged 55 and over. 

During the six week course, there will be an opportunity to learn how to cook a healthy three-course meal using fresh ingredients - and then enjoy eating it!

The Year of Wellbeing is organised by the Coventry and Warwickshire Health and Wellbeing Boards which include representation from all of the NHS organisations in our area, together with Healthwatch, local councils, the police and the fire service. The aim of the year is to share resources to support stronger, healthier communities, and to promote the important of taking action to improve health and wellbeing.
