The Planning Committee considered the Central Parade planning application at its meeting on Tuesday 5 May 2020.

The committee decided that, subject to an additional planning requirement relating to wheelchair accessible housing, and the completion of a legal agreement, planning permission should be granted.

Details of the Planning Committee report can be seen on the web page.

Now that the scheme has been accepted by the Planning Committee it is hoped that the scheme will be completed by the end of 2021. This will see the delivery of 21 new homes, including 55 per cent affordable homes, that will be open for Waltham Forest residents to occupy.

Garage demolition starts again next week

Central Parade demolition 030320

Demolition of the garages behind Central Parade is due to start again from Monday 11 May 2020 with the contractors making arrangemnets to work within the rules set down by the Government and  the Construction Industry Council.

This will continue the work which began on Monday 9 March 2020, which was stopped following Government advice on the COVID-19 pandemic, and will take around six weeks to complete.

Read the agreed rules

The work will include diversion of below ground gas pipes and preparations for moving the electricity sub-station will follow after completion of the demolition works.

Work will take place between 8.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday with no working at weekends.

Occasionally, lorries will be reversing on to the site between 10am and 3pm with staff supervising those lorry movements.

For security reasons the site will be fenced off and residents are asked to make sure that children especially are kept away from the site.

To minimise disruption and noise a mini-excavator will be used along with hand tools.

The waste materials will be sent to recycling centres for reuse.
