Because of the difficult time landlords are currently facing the Council is extending the deadline on the Early Bird Discount until the end of October.
The Council will discount licence applications by £250 if made during the agreed timescale.
- Additional Licensing: Wednesday 1 April 2020 – Saturday 31 October 2020
- Selective Licensing: Friday 1 May 2020 – Saturday 31 October 2020
There is no discount for registering Homes in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and these should be licensed in the usual way.
Further details of eligibility for early bird discount are available.

The Government has agreed with lenders that they will ensure support is available where it is needed for landlords.
Landlords will also be protected by a three month mortgage payment holiday where they have a Buy to Let mortgage.
Tenants who have difficulty paying their rent should be treated sympathetically and referred to the Council's web page where details of financial assistance and other support for residents is available.
The Government message that staying home saves lives should be reinforced by landlords contacted by their tenants.
Landlords remain legally obligated to ensure properties meet the required standard – urgent, essential health and safety repairs should be made.
An agreement for non-urgent repairs to be done later should be made between tenants and landlords.
Local authorities are also encouraged to take a pragmatic, risk-based approach to enforcement.
Waltham Forest Council will continue to take enforcement action where we need to protect people's health, safety and welfare.
