Waltham Forest Council has been working to reduce carbon emissions and improve the local environment for the last decade, and we know many local people have too.
That’s why we’ve launched a survey to gather the views of local people on how to tackle the climate emergency.
It is aimed at everyone who lives or works in Waltham Forest to get their views on how important tackling the climate emergency is to them, what actions they are taking already and what future priorities should be for working together to find a local solution for this global challenge.
We are also offering all subscribers to our climate emergency newsletter the chance to win a bike worth £400 and other fab prizes.
Waltham Forest Council has decided to update its Housing Allocations Scheme, which sets out how we allocate social rented housing (Council and housing association homes).
Our review will focus on:
- Who is eligible to be on the Housing Register
- Who gets priority for housing on the Housing Register
- Making the system simpler to understand
You can make your views known by completing our survey before midnight on Thursday 19 December 2019.

Waltham Forest Council is aiming to develop 92 Leyton Green Road to improve local facilities and provide new homes.
As part of this development the Council has invested in improvements at Belmont Park School to provide modern vocational learning facilities for the young people who attend the school.
The existing respite care centre on 92 Leyton Green has been replaced with brand new facilities including a three bed residential, respite centre and therapy hub adjacent to the school at 99 Leyton Green Road so the young people who use the centre have the best possible facilities available for them. existing
The money generated from selling the homes proposed for the 92 Leyton Green Road site will help pay for these new facilities.
A drop-in public engagement event where residents can ask questions of Council officers, the architects and contractors regarding the proposals is scheduled for Wednesday 13 November 2019, 4pm to 8pm at Belmont Park School, 101 Leyton Green Road, Leyton, E10 6DB.

We are encouraging people to have their say on how to improve Walthamstow High Street to work better for them after 6pm, through a five-minute online survey.
The results will be used to look at ways we can support local organisations and businesses to stay open later into the evening and improve access to shops and services after 6pm.
