Town Hall proposals will encourage greater public use

Waltham Forest Town Hall

The Town Hall Campus transformation programme is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a new neighbourhood in the heart of the Borough, refurbish cherished historic buildings and open up the campus to the public.

In doing so, it will transform the way the Council operates and delivers services to residents.

There are three main reasons for doing this:

  1. Opening up the Town Hall Campus that can be enjoyed by residents, visitors and staff and creating a new neighbourhood in Chapel End ward.
  2. To contribute much needed housing, with 50% affordable, by releasing council offices in other parts of the borough that are expensive to run, not fit for purpose, and confusing for customers who have to travel between sites.
  3. Significant investment into our historic buildings means the Grade II-listed Town Hall and Assembly Hall are protected and preserved for future generations to enjoy.

Family Fun Day was a great success

Town Hall Family Fun Day_220619 (34)

On Saturday 22 June, around 1,000 people came along to see our ideas for the first part of the regeneration programme and then share your views on them

The whole campus was open, with fun activities for the family to enjoy as well as information about some of the services we offer.

Music and entertainment were a key part of the afternoon’s fun as we continue celebrating being the first London Borough of Culture.

There was also a Food Court selling a variety of street food which proved popular.

Share your views before planning application submitted

Town Hall plan

A planning application for the first phase of work is due to be submitted by the end of July but before that happens we want to hear your views on our ideas.

The information boards can be downloaded from the website and there is an online comment form for you to use to share your views.

This consultation closes on Sunday 14 July 2019.

As further phases of the scheme are finalised there will be future opportunities for residents to comment before planning applications are submitted.
