From 2017/18, learners at the end of Foundation Phase will be assessed against the revised outcome statements for Language, Literacy and Communication Skills and Mathematical Development. These include the three additional statements (Foundation Phase Outcome Bronze, Foundation Phase Outcome Silver and Foundation Phase Outcome Gold).

On 28 March, Kirsty Williams will launch a new network which aims to improve the teaching and learning of the Foundation Phase across all schools and education settings in Wales

A new online community learning zone has also been established to facilitate the sharing of information, resources and research between practitioners. The zone will also host 20 new case studies including three short films which showcase effective practice in five key areas of practice: child development, environment experiences, leadership, pedagogy and Welsh language.  Future updates will be published in pre11 DYSG.
