Review
of NPS and Value Wales
In
September, Mark Drakeford, the Cabinet Secretary for Finance, announced that he
would be instigating an independent review of the National Procurement Service
and Value Wales within the Welsh Government.
A stakeholder group has now been
established to inform the review which will meet for the first time at the end
of February. Andrew Falvey, Commercial Director at the DVLA, has been
appointed as the independent Chair of the group. We will keep you updated in
future newsletters.

Are
you ready for the new General Data Protection Regulations?
The
EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) will come into force on 25 May
2018, placing a range of new obligations on organisations to be more
accountable for data protection. The
regulations also introduce tougher fines for non-compliance and data

Secretary announces plan to support Welsh steel industry
A new procurement advice note (PAN) has been
published, which will continue the Welsh Government’s support for the Welsh and

Changes to the Official Journal of the
European Union (OJEU) thresholds
The European Commission has advised of
revised thresholds over which contracts should be advertised in
the Official Journal of the European Union. Read more

your organisation signed up to the Code of Practice on Ethical Employment in
Supply Chains?
The Code is designed to ensure that workers
in public sector supply chains are employed legally and fairly, and that
slavery and unethical employment practices are not tolerated.

NPS
5 year pipeline consultation
Thank you to all customers that took the time to provide
their views and comments on our draft 5 year procurement pipeline. The
pipeline was developed to allow us to consult with the Welsh public sector on
the future delivery of procurement for our customers. Feedback was received
from over 30 organisations.
The plan will be presented to the NPS Delivery Group in
February for finalisation. We will provide further updates in the newsletter,

passing of Paul Broadbent
We were very saddened to hear that Paul Broadbent, CEO of the
Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA), passed away aged 54, in

A new website
has been launched for Cyber Essentials: a government-backed certification
