We have produced a short animation to talk parents and carers through the National Reading and Numeracy Test reports. A link to the animation will be included on the pupil results sheet, but you may wish to share this link on your school’s website for parents and carers.

information, the National Reading and Numeracy Test dates for 2018 will
be 25 April to 9 May for secondary and 2 to 9 May for primary.

The Cabinet Secretary has decided not to use her powers to direct local authorities and the governing bodies of voluntary aided and foundation schools as to what their term dates must be.

Pupils entering Year 7 of maintained secondary schools in Wales in the 2017/18 school year who are eligible for free school meals will be eligible for the school uniform grant; as will pupils in special schools, special needs resource bases and pupil referral units in Wales who are aged 11 at the start of the 2017/18 school year and who are eligible for free school meals.
The draft Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) Framework for Action consultation is live. These proposals are aimed at improving outcomes for learners accessing education otherwise than at school provision. To support this consultation, events are being held on the 14 July and 20 July 2017.

within and across our schools, to support the transition to the new curriculum. If your school has been invited to complete

GLP-W supports teachers to develop their learners as ethical and informed citizens of Wales and the world. The Education Workforce Council are looking for a number of talented and conscientious committee members to join the ‘Board’, Chaired by Professor John Furlong OBE, that is now responsible for accrediting all programmes of Initial Teacher Education (ITE), leading to Qualified Teacher Status, in Wales.
The Education Workforce Council is contacting schools and colleges to collect data on SENCOs. Welsh Government will use this information to plan for the proposed Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal Bill (ALNET) and associated ALN Transformation Programme. SENCos/headteachers are asked to respond to EWC by 21/7/2017.
