The Rural Community Development Fund (RCDF) offers grants which are primarily aimed at LEADER Local Action Groups and other community-based organisations.

Glastir

Glastir Advanced 2018

Farmers and land managers have until midnight on 31 March 2017 to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for Glastir Advanced 2018 via an RPW Online account. Contract Managers will visit selected applicants to draw up a Glastir Advanced contract. Contracts can include Management Options and Capital Works which will deliver environmental improvements for habitats, species, soil and water.

Glastir Small Grants – Landscape and Pollinators

The Landscape and Pollinators Expression of Interest window has opened and now closes at midnight on 18 April 2017 – Please note the change of date. Glastir Small Grants guidance is now available on the Welsh Government website.

Glastir Woodland Creation

The Expression of Interest window opened on 20 March 2017 and closes at midnight on 1 May 2017. Glastir Woodland Creation guidance will be available on the Welsh Government website before the new round opens.

Capital Works claims for Glastir Small Grants Carbon projects should be submitted via RPW Online by 31 March 2017. Before and after Geotagged photographs must be uploaded with your claim.

An Exciting New Horticulture Project for Wales!

Lantra Wales have been successful in securing funding for Tyfu Cymru, a horticulture project pan Wales to include amenity, edibles and non-edibles.  The initial project phase is 6 months ending mid-June 2017 with a view to a potentially longer project of 3 ½ years.  Tyfu Cymru is led by Lantra working with key partners and the industry.  We aim to develop a commercial horticulture action plan for Wales with longer term view to developing a more robust, profitable and sustainable growing network for Wales. Minister visits Community Wi-fi Project in Aberdaron

Minister for Skills and Science Julie James visited Aberdaron to see the community wi-fi project. 

 

Aberdaron, like many other rural areas across Gwynedd, has poor 3G/4G mobile coverage, known as ‘not-spots’. In big city centres visitors can now enjoy free wi-fi usually provided by one of the large telecom companies, but in rural areas this isn’t the case.

For two Mid Wales farmers, signing up for Farming Connect’s prestigious personal development programme, the Agri Academy, when it was first launched by the Welsh Government in 2012, was the start of a new positive and more profitable phase of life from which they still benefit today.

The Rural Business Awards honour the best in British countryside-based enterprise and are now open for 2017 entries.

The Awards are now in their third year and will once again be run in partnership with the CLA.

A new declaration calling for an improved LEADER/CLLD implementation framework resulted from a stakeholder-driven process at the Renewing LEADER/CLLD for 2020+ conference organised by the European LEADER Association for Rural Development (ELARD) in November 2016 in Tartu, Estonia.
