Wales
Estyn has launched a consultation on
proposals for how they inspect education and training in Wales. The proposals
will take effect from September 2017.
If you’re involved in
education in Wales, Estyn would like to hear from you - whether you’re an
education professional, a governor, a parent or a learner.

The message this year is ‘Bullying is
everyone’s business’ to empower children and young people to identify and
address bullying, whether it is happening to them or someone else or if
bullying occurs face to face or online, further information on how you can help
stop bullying can be found here.
The Welsh
Government has also published guidance for parents
whose children are being bullied and for children who are being bullied.

A new national network of excellence for
mathematics is to be set up to boost standards in Welsh schools, it was recently announced (Thursday 3 November).

CERN teacher placement
7 – 11 February 2017
Expressions
of interest are invited to recruit secondary school physics teachers to visit
CERN, for this once in a lifetime experience that will enrich you and your
students. The funding covers teacher’s travel, subsistence and teacher cover

Five year plan to
examine vocational qualifications in Wales
A
five year plan to examine the quality and suitability of vocational
qualifications in Wales has been announced.
Vocational qualifications make up
around 90 per cent of all regulated qualifications available in Wales and
account for around 60 per cent of all qualifications awarded to learners. The strategy, which is in the final stages of
preparation, will set out Qualifications Wales’
approach to tackling the task.

create a new logo for online safety in Wales.

is the first edition of a Welsh-medium online magazine for students and
teachers of Religious Studies at Key Stage 3. The magazine contains a number of
contemporary articles and tasks/activities to promote the religious education
skills, literacy and numeracy of learners. The magazine will be available
termly and will be free of charge on Hwb.

Understanding
that information security underpins the born-digital approach, Welsh Government,
the National
Training Federation for Wales and Jisc have
committed to a change programme driving ISO 27001:2013 conformance – the
international information security management standard – across the work-based
learning sector in Wales, by July 2017.
