Qualifications Wales has published a letter to WJEC requesting changes to the specifications for the Welsh Baccalaureate qualifications from September 2016. A review of the Welsh Baccalaureate identified a range of recommendations with varying timescales, and details can be found here.

Blogging in Hwb+

Planning a school trip this term? Why not encourage your pupils to use Hwb+ to blog about their experiences?

Pupils can write blogs and post them on your school’s Hwb+ public website to keep their parents up to date with what they’ve been getting up to. Alternatively, blogs can be posted on class, subject or year sites in Hwb+ and used as discussion points when you return to the classroom. For more ideas on using blogs, see the Hwb+ help pages

E-learning tool available to schools in Wales

FFT Education has launched an E-learning tool to help governors make the most of their Governor Dashboard, part of data system FFT Aspire. The Dashboard displays information about results and pupil progress, subject performance, progress of pupil groups, school context, attendance and highlights strengths and weaknesses, making it the ideal overview for planning towards inspections – visit elearning.fft.org.uk to register or for more information.

Alun Davies AM to attend the WCEE Early Years Matters Conference

The Wales Centre for Equity in Education is proud to announce that Alun Davies (AM) the Minister for Lifelong learning & Welsh Language has agreed to speak at our annual conference on 6th July in Swansea at the Village Hotel.

This will provide the Minister with one of his first opportunities to outline his vision for the Early Years and Foundation Phase.

The conference will showcase a variety of examples of Early Years practice from schools, universities, third sector organisations and policy makers.
