New - guidance
for schools on managing and responding to sexting incidents
With the rise
of sexting incidents involving young people, SWGfL, coordinators of the UK
Safer Internet Centre, have issued new guidance to help schools identify
sexting incidents, manage them and escalate appropriately. Find it now on Hwb
New How was school...? guides for parents and carers are on their way!
The refreshed How was school today? guides will be published in early July with information that will enable and encourage parents and carers to take and active part in their child's education. If you would like the guide provided in a specific community language, please email epscomms@wales.gsi.gov.uk by 15 June 2016 with language and total number of copies. The decision to produce will be based on demand.

Nuffield Research Placements (previously Nuffield
Science Bursaries) provide over 1,000 students each year with the opportunity
to work alongside professional scientists, technologists, engineers and
mathematicians. Students in the first year of a post-16 science,
technology, engineering and maths (STEM) course are eligible to apply. Contact
your Regional Coordinator for more information about the scheme in your area.
Can be made by a teacher at a primary
or secondary school for sums up to £1,000. Applications from existing chemistry
clubs looking to expand/ enhance activities would be welcome as would those
from colleagues interested in starting a club. For more information on

to register their Year 12 students.

Have your say about the summer exams 2016
Many new AS qualifications,
specifically designed for Wales, are being examined for the first time this
summer, as well as other existing GCSE and A level qualifications.
Qualifications Wales is asking learners, teachers, lecturers and anyone with an
interest in the summer exams to fill in a short survey. The questionnaire

Consultation on the Draft Restricted Priority Qualifications Policy
This consultation is an opportunity
for awarding bodies and other interested parties to provide feedback to
Qualifications Wales on the policy for the restriction of priority
qualifications. The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance to awarding
bodies and other interested parties of the rationale for the restriction of
priority qualifications and the process for the restriction of qualifications.
